Chlorine Gas
Introduced in 1915, by the Germans, Chlorine Gas was proved to be the most deadly gas if inhaled. The heavy weight of this gas allowed it to sink in trenches when deployed and the yellow-green color made it visible when it approached. The effects of chlorine gas were very harmful as it was a pulmonary irritant and could cause a cute damage to the upper respiratory tract. Within seconds of inhaling it's vapor, it's toxins were capable of chocking it's victim as well as causing them muscle weakness, abdominal discomfort, burning sensations and trouble breathing.
Although symptoms would kick in very quickly, the gas itself, was avoidable. It was found that certain chemicals in urine could allow them to breath when surrounded by this gas. Because of this discovery, if the gas was deployed and there was enough time, soldiers would urinate on a handkerchief and cover their mouths with it.
